TIP: Unlock Globe handset when leaving the country

Globe has its ways to cater the roaming needs of its prepaid and postpaid subscribers, but may entail higher cost. If you are a first time traveler out of the country, every jet setters advice for you is to get an international SIM or avail the local SIM of your destination. Mobile networks abroad can offer a cheaper price with faster data connections and low rates for calls and text messages.

For users who availed their handset in Globe, keep in mind to unlock the data of your device before leaving the country. In this manner, you can use the data of another SIM that you are planning to use. You can request this if your subscription with your postpaid line is already out of contract. Unfortunately, you will have to pay termination charges if you unlock your phone within contract.

You can visit select Globe stores, call the hotline, connect to Twitter or the chatbot of Globe in Facebook to unlock your phone. Make sure to prepare the required information:

- Mobile number

- Date of availment of the handset

- Lock up period

- Handset brand / model

- IMEI number (written on the sticker found at the back of the device and its box)

- Reason of the request

If you are unable to unlock your phone, the local data network service will not be available. However, you can still enjoy the call and text function of another SIM (for a dual SIM phone) as long as the Globe SIM is in the first slot.
